Day 168 in Morocco was a slow recovery day filled with stomach bugs, quiet moments in the apartment, website work, and reflections on why outdoor space matters so much for our family while travelling.
Day 167 - Surf, Tagines and a Rough Night in Morocco
A fun morning surfing in Essaouira quickly turned into a rough day of upset stomachs, giant tagines, sugar loaded mint tea and a long night of food poisoning fears in Morocco. Day 167 was definitely one to remember for all the wrong reasons.
Day 166 - Our First Family Surf Lesson in Essaouira
Our first family surf lesson in Essaouira turned into one of the most fun days of the trip so far. Small waves, plenty of wipeouts, lots of laughter and all four of us standing up by the end of the session made for an unforgettable day in Morocco.
Day 165 - Finding Our Rhythm in Essaouira with Slow Starts, Windy Beaches, and a Home-Cooked Reset
Our first full day in Essaouira was all about slowing down, figuring things out, and settling in. From quiet cafes and grocery surprises to windy beach walks and a home-cooked dinner, we finally started to find our rhythm.
Day 164 - From Marrakech to Essaouira and Our Accidental Early Mother’s Day
From accidentally celebrating Mother’s Day a week early in Marrakech to roadside argan oil stops and finally arriving in beautiful Essaouira, Day 164 was full of laughs, surprises, and the exciting start of our two week coastal chapter in Morocco.
Day 163 - A 5am Start, a No Show Balloon Ride and One More Easy Day in Marrakech
A 5am start for a dream hot air balloon ride over Marrakech quickly turned into a frustrating no show, a full refund, and an unexpectedly slow family day of bad breakfast orders, Lego marathons, pool time, great chawarma and small moments of kindness.
Day 162 - A Slow Marrakech Reset After the Sahara
After our unforgettable Sahara adventure, Day 162 in Marrakech was all about slowing down. From delicious traditional Moroccan breakfast and mint tea to poolside fun with the kids and incredible local shawarma for dinner, this was the perfect family reset day before our next adventure.
Day 161 - Sahara Sunrise, Camel Highways and Marrakech Madness
From a pre-dawn Sahara camel ride and sunrise over the dunes to chaotic Marrakech traffic, roadside stops, and a tour guide who somehow survived it all, Day 161 was one wild ride.
Day 160 - From the Valley of Roses to the Sahara Desert
From Morocco’s Valley of Roses to the towering Todgha Gorge and finally camel trekking into the Sahara at sunset, Day 160 was packed with long drives, cultural surprises, sandboarding chaos and one unforgettable desert night.
Day 159 - From Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains: Our First Day on Morocco’s Desert Tour
An early morning escape from the empty streets of Marrakech led us through the Atlas Mountains, across the ancient clay city of Aït Benhaddou, and into Morocco’s breathtaking Valley of the Roses. A huge first day filled with surreal landscapes, long drives, and our first real taste of Morocco beyond the medina.
Day 158 - Our First Full Day in Morocco and Sensory Overload
Our first full day in Morocco threw us straight into the chaos, beauty, history, and sensory overload of Marrakech. From rooftop breakfasts and Ben Youssef Madrasa to the madness of the souks and Jemaa el Fna, this was culture shock in full colour.
Day 157 - Goodbye Europe, Hello Marrakech
An early 5am start, airport chaos, Schengen exit, delayed flights, Marrakech madness, monkey encounters, SIM card struggles, and our first taste of Morocco. Day 157 was one of the biggest travel days of our family gap year so far.
Day 156 - Our Final Day in Lake Garda
Our last day in Lake Garda was everything we wanted it to be. Paddle boats, tennis, the pool, and saying goodbye to a great group of people. A full day wrapping up an unforgettable stay before heading to Morocco.
Day 155 - One Last Ride, A Ferry to Garda, and Our Final Night at Lake Garda
We missed our final bike ride but still squeezed in one last lap of Lake Garda life. A ferry to Garda, lakeside markets, pizza, gelato, and a big farewell dinner wrapped up another unforgettable day.
Day 154 - Website Building, Paddle Tennis and Why the Kids Don’t Want to Leave Lake Garda
From morning tennis and gym sessions to building Kia’s website, poolside chats and another big night of paddle tennis, Day 154 was one of those simple but full family travel days. The biggest takeaway? The kids are loving the freedom of life here in Lake Garda so much they’re already asking to stay longer.
Day 153 - Kids, Conflict and a Much-Needed Bike Ride in Lake Garda
A slow, slightly snotty start turned into one of those parenting days full of friendship drama, poolside tension, and emotional resets. From kids clashing over games to an unexpected vineyard bike ride and hidden forest trails near Lake Garda, Day 153 was a reminder that sometimes the best part of travel is simply finding space to reset.
Day 152 - A Day Trip to Verona Featuring Castles, Colosseums and Too Much Gelato

Day 151 - A Bike Ride to Peschiera, Gelato Regrets and Our First Game of Padel
A cruisy day around Lake Garda turned into one of our favourites. A family bike ride to Peschiera del Garda, exploring the old fortress town, a bit of gelato regret, a failed bike track mission, and our first ever game of padel with new friends.
Day 150 - A Rainy Reset Day While the Kids Roamed Free
A slow, rainy day turned into one of those unexpected travel days where the kids disappear on bikes, build their own adventures, and we’re left juggling work, patchy internet, and a bit of planning for what’s next.
